As a United States citizen, I can attest to the validity of that statement. I am Gay and am an Atheist, and living in America can be very unfriendly. We even had laws against sodomy in some states as recent as the? 80's. We have a very high incarceration rate, health coverage costs non-workers around 600$/mo, our government is married to the church in many respects, people are more closed-minded and do not believe in Evolution (only around 38% believe in America). America is a backwards nation.

I am Canadian and I love Canada and Canadians but I think we need to adopt some of the European immigration policies. We are way too lenient and we let immigrants get away with? almost anything. I think we should bring back Clifford Sifton's policy of selective immigration.
